Kitty Birthday Card-- Experiment

Just experimenting with a card design I came up with in terms of coloring style. I was heading in a different direction, but somehow drifted this way. Not sure how I feel about it however.
I'm going to try to do this card design a different way and see if I like it better.
Done in Adobe Photoshop CS3 on my Macbook Pro.
Roughly 5 hours.

Yay! an update :)
I like the pose that you have the kitten in. It reminds me kind of how a toddler would sit.... where did your line-work go??? I think it would strengthen the piece to bring the line-work back. It would give more definition and make it less "fuzzy" around the edges of every thing.

Thanks. :3
I purposly went in the direction to make the edges look that way as an experiment...to look more childish and whimsical. It's not what I was going to do when I first sat down, but it happened and I went with it.
If you think I should bring the linework back, I will do a version that way!

oh, ok, that makes sense! :)
Its always fun to try out new things and just kind of see where they lead. Yes, definitely try a version with the line work, and just to spice things up a bit, try making the line-work some sort of stand-out color. Not gaudy or tacky, but something bold and complimentary to your color scheme. Maybe try putting the line-work on the very top layer, and painting underneath in different layers.
